About this Course

Join Outdoor Chattanooga and The Appalachian Conservation Institute for a unique opportunity to LEARN EXPLORE and HIKE the property adjacent to Little Sequatchie Cove. The Appalachian Conservation Institute currently protects approximately 10,000 acres along the Little Sequatchie River, creating a vital, contiguous wildlife corridor. This protected land serves as essential habitat for a wide variety of species, many of which rely on these natural corridors for migration and survival. Our hike will begin at the ACI Bird Observatory, where you’ll learn about our bird banding research. The hike is along an old OHV road, considered moderate with little elevation change and is about 3 miles in total distance. The group will venture into a Pine Oak Savanna forest, vibrant with summer vegetation and colorful wildflowers, before reaching Low Gap Point. At this stunning vista, you’ll be rewarded with expansive views of miles of unspoiled wilderness. Reservations are required. Participant will receive confirmation and trip details with reservation. Participants can meet at ACI or transport with the Outdoor Chattanooga van (seats limited) from downtown, departing 1 hour before trip time. Times will remain on Eastern Standard Time in our communications.
