About this Course

Join Outdoor Chattanooga and Chickamauga Chattanooga National Park Service interpretive ranger for a kayak tour on a section of the West Chickamauga Creek Blueway. This guided and equipped kayak tour is an adventure taking you on a journey to envision what it was like prior to and during the Battle of Chickamauga, getting thousands of Confederate soldiers across West Chickamauga Creek was not easy. With its steep banks and most of its bridges under Union control, other means of crossing the creek had to be found. This is where the various farmers' fords came into play, several of which you will see and discuss on this tour. Thanks to support from National Park Partners covering the costs for this program. No fee. Pre-registration required as space is limited. Some kayak experience is suggested, but not required for this program. Open to ages 14 and up.
