Ever wonder how trails and waterways make it onto the maps you use every day? Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring how mapping tools and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) bring the outdoors to life. We'll start with an Intro to GIS , where we'll learn how spatial data and mapping technology are used to plan, manage, and enjoy outdoor recreation spaces. Then, we will have an interactive mapping session. Finally, we'll open up time for Q&A and exploration, where participants can ask questions, try out mapping tools, and see a live demo of how outdoor recreation data gets turned into real-world maps. *In order to participate it is suggested that you bring a laptop and create an account on OpenStreetMap website prior to the workshop.*
